Pro Tips - Ron Rusell - Music Producer
Super Producer Ron Rusell gives this tasty piece of advice:
"Don't get hung up on creating a masterpiece from the start, or you'll have difficulty coming up with fresh ideas. Most masterpieces are just highly polished creations based on very basic ideas, with a twist or two to make them interesting".

When coming up with ideas I often find that tweaking them and combining them with other bits and pieces makes for the best results but I guess it's a personal thing

giid advice but I still don't think I could create a masterpiece!
i think that there's something to be said for the human "imperfect" element that has been lost. i like your advice.
SOmetimes music should just be simple so that it gets its message across correctly.
i think ron russell's advice is perfect... i have a strong feeling that some artists who got too preoccupied with making a hit ended up getting what they strove for, a hit... only were not able to follow it up and ended up going down in history as what we all are too familiar of, a one hit wonder... :)
This makes sense. Keep it simple and don't over think it. Also, as Lars said, it should be repeatable.
I don't care what kind of music should be what matters for me is that the music should as good as it should stuck in the mind.
really good tips dear.
The advice is noticeable. I think starting with a simple idea and tweaking, stretching and adding on eventually direct it into something great.

He's right, not aiming for a masterpiece takes away the pressure of coming up with a really good idea...this way you can just let it flow and be original otherwise you would just be stuck because you would be aiming for perfect and nothing you create would be good enough

The hardest part of any art form is getting out that lousy first draft. Once you have something basic laid down, then you're free to refine and go forward from there.

How did you get your page in top lists of these search engines, I am trying hard to get my site to top, but I can’t get it right, I think I need to do strong SEO for my site to have this opportunity.
Errrrr.....can someone tell me what this page is all about? Who's done this? They should maybe get in touch with me about it.
Yes, most simple music and lyric combinations are simple in structure and that's what makes them so memorable. Having the creativity to come up with a simple winner is another matter altogether, though.

Nice usefull article. Great Advice from ROn Russel.
Yes, the computer music man is right. But it is also the fact that waiting for the right time is too difficult thing in every one's life, specially if he is passing through a very critical time.
When coming up with ideas I often find that tweaking them and combining them with other bits and pieces makes for the best results...
i have a strong feeling that some artists who got too preoccupied with making a hit ended up getting what they strove for...
Very true, the harder you try on a piece of music, the further you take it away from it's original vibe. I try to record something and then leave it a day and see what comes into my mind the next time I hear it. Just always keep the original track!
First time i am reading your interesting post. I found that it is very good track.
When we decide to take opportunity to getting success when automatically fresh ideas will comes in a fresh mind.
I am very interested in the production in the music industry
Great Tips.. Thanx
I've been listening to a wide variety of music for a long time. Recently, however, I've been listening to a ton of hip hop. Every time I listened to a new track that I loved, I thought to myself, "I really want to be able to make beats like this." I searched and searched online but couldn't find a program that enabled me to do what I wanted. Either the software was too simple and didn't allow me to be creative, or it was too complicated and pretty much impossible to use. Then I found DubTURBO. With DubTURBO, I was set - there were a ton of clear, easy-to-understand tutorials on how to get started so I could figure out what I was doing. Once I got the basics down, the possibilities were endless. I could throw in the sickest drops and wobbles, create the filthiest beats, and even upload my own sounds. The best part was that I could do it right from my laptop, without needing any type of special soundcard, keyboard, or midi. Now I'm producing some truly filthy tracks and seriously looking into DJing at a bunch of local places. My friends are all insanely impressed with the beats I'm dropping, and I created them all with DubTURBO. Whether you're an amateur looking to learn how to make your own beats or a professional looking for a better, more flexible program to use, DubTURBO is the way to go.
Visit www.HowToBeADJ.net to learn more. This isn't a ploy; this is me honestly telling you what helped me out.
Thanks! Can't wait to hear your beats.

when a pro talks, i listen. thanks
Very good tips. Thanks
"Writer's Block" applies to all mediums. Whenever something is forced, it flees right out the window. Life is easier when you let things "flow"; not forced! I agree!
Well, that certainly sound like a good idea. Stick to what u can do, and make the best out of it!
It seems a good idea dude. Like that point.
I love the quote. seems more practicable than getting yourself crazy in trying to think of a "unique" masterpiece. come to think of it there are actually very goo ideas floating around they just need a couple of changes to make them great -- to make them a masterpiece.
when a pro talks i tend to listen.
thanks
very good post. . thanks for sharing
greeting from mas raden
I love the quote. seems more practicable than getting yourself crazy ... Thanks for share
It's time to put those ideas into action. Write down your thoughts, and start. 'Analysis Paralysis' will just drain your energy. Move forward.
Nice post......it is a great way to get the back links of the site to increase the visibility of site in SERP. . Keep up the good work!
Grate post.
Nice information you share here.

I suppose the real masterpieces were the ones that we've lost in time :( I've read a good article that says we lost all records of music before the renaissance era. I really wonder what those sound like.
The advice makes sense. basic ideas = basic beat, and the twist is when you add rhythm and melody. :)
I agree, Overcomplicating things at the start clouds your judgement. Take things step by step and polish them to their full potential.

good pro tip. well yeah duh right, its not called a "pro tip" for nothing heh
such an inspiring tip! Well, I definitely agree..All work/masterpiece were achieved from a basic and simple idea.
I'm running a related website if any of your visitors are interested. It is an encyclopedic compendium of electronic music production knowledge. Check it out!
I certainly believe in this.. If you really want to come up with the best.. then do not always stick and stop on your plan.. Rather, you should be open on the other ideas that will help your masterpiece better and to attain the best.. :)
Seems fantastic to me and it's more practicable than getting yourself crazy..
You can't simply create a masterpiece without applying the basics of what you are creating..
Complicated things starts from the basics
Yeah, it's actually fantastic dude.. Ron Russell we owe you one again :)
creating a masterpiece isn't easy. It requires a lot of skill and peace of mind and of course inspiration.
Perseverance is the only key to create the best of the bests of everyone's masterpiece..
I also subscribe to the idea of doing first and filtering later. You can never tell how something is going to turn out. Aiming is not a passive verb. It means writing and re-writing to get where you want to go.
the harder you try on a piece of music, the further you take it away from it's original vibe. I try to record something and then leave it a day and see what comes into my mind the next time I hear it.
only were not able to follow it up and ended up going down in history as what we all are too familiar of, a one hit wonder.
Wow....!!! great post. I just go through it. thank you for sharing. such a nice information.
